Only GOD
There are things only God can do…like create the world and everything in it; part a sea with a wide patch of dry land (ask Moses); close the door of a massive ship (ask Noah); close the mouths of hungry lions (ask Daniel); put a coin in the mouth of a swimming fish (ask Peter); and raise someone from the dead with resurrection power (ask Christ’s disciples). Yet some folks counter they haven’t seen miracles in their lifetimes, and don’t expect to either.
I would answer that our miraculous God isn’t limited to large events, but delights to work in small unseen ways as well. Sometimes He orchestrates situations that result in an unexpected check arriving in the mail just when it’s needed most. Sometimes His touch brings healing when all medical solutions have failed. Sometimes He restores a relationship damaged beyond repair, mending the hearts of everyone involved. In fact, He’s always “making a way where there seems to be no way.”
Yet, in our high tech, fast paced world, when do we take time to think about our supernatural God and all He does? Often my busyness squeezes out the knowledge of God from my daily activities. How about you?
Thankfully it’s Easter again, when our hearts are prodded back to the cornerstone of our faith: Christ Jesus crucified, buried and resurrected! On Good Friday, Christians across the globe paused and reflected on what Christ accomplished by dying a torturous death on a cruel Roman cross. Some have said He was put to death because of taxes, or the political will of religious leaders. However, believers know He died for one purpose…the salvation of many souls. Only the righteous Son of God could pay the penalty for all the sin of mankind. Fulfilling the sacrificial system instituted by God for His chosen people (the Israelites), the Lamb of God (Jesus) made atonement once for all of humanity, by shedding His blood. Why? Because our penchant for sin and rebellion separates us from our Holy Heavenly Father.
“When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross.” Colossians 2:13-14”
Only God could make a way to redeem that which was broken…every human heart. Only God could take a symbol of death and use it to bring life. Only He can take our hearts of stone and give us hearts of flesh. Have you heard this precious story, believing and trusting that God loves you enough to do what no one else could do? He sent His Son to pay for your sin, so that in trusting in Him, you can be made whole and have eternal life. Dare to believe and trust. Call on Jesus with a sincere heart because He is alive and interceding for you. He is only a prayer away.
